Renewal / Annual Fee
Whether you’ve just earned your certification—or have been a certification holder for years— the steps are the same.
- Earn the required amount of Professional Development Units (PDUs) to meet the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) for your certification.
For example: To renew your Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, you’ll need to earn 60 PDUs per 3-year cycle. Visit the Requirements page for more information.
- Enter your PDUs in the online CCR system (CCRS).
- Pay the renewal fee. You’ll receive information on how to pay when it is time for you to renew your certification. Renewal fee: PMI Member $60, Non PMI member $150
- Once you’ve renewed, take a break before you start planning for your next 3-year renewal cycle.
- Once you submit payment—even if you submit it before your certification expires—your new cycle end date will be three years from your current certification expiration date.
Recertification / Professional Development:
- If you hold a Project Management Professional, you are required to earn 60 PDUs in a 3-year cycle. These 60 PDUs can be further broken down as follows:
- 35 Minimum Education PDUs
- 25 Maximum Giving Back PDUs
- The most efficient way to record PDUs is by using CCRS.
- You must record your PDUs and complete the renewal process before your CCR cycle ends to maintain an active certification status.
- A percentage of certification holders will be randomly selected for PMI’s audit process. If you are selected for an audit, you will be asked to submit supporting material to verify any PDUs submitted. Therefore, it is important to keep documentation for all PDU claims for at least 18 months after the CCR cycle has ended.
Use Of The PMP Credential
- Within two weeks of earning your certification, you will receive an email from Credly notifying you that PMI has issued you a badge.
- Your badge is a digital version of your certification, skills and qualifications.
- You can share your badge on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, in an email signature or embed it in a website.
